Dessouky wins Squash Player’s
Player of the Month award

Dessouky is Squash Player’s Male Player of the Month for May after
reaching the semi-finals of a PSA World Series event for only the
second time in his young career in April.
The 22-year-old Egyptian matched his achievement of last year, when
he also made the last four of the El Gouna International in front of
his home fans.
“I love playing here and I always dream of winning this tournament,”
said Dessouky, who shocked fourth seed Nick Matthew 3/2 in the first
round after twice trailing.
“I’m just thinking about things step-by-step. It’s always great to
be here playing in front of this great crowd.”
Dessouky went on to beat fellow unseeded duo Ryan Cuskelly and Diego
Elias 3/1 before succumbing by the same scoreline to second seed
Karim Abdel Gawad in the semi-finals.
The world no.9 also reached the last four of the $70,000 Houston
Open in the USA in April before losing 3/1 to Gawad again.
