Best Clubs Compete To Be Crowned National Champions

The No5 sponsored National Squash Club Championships 2017 Finals weekend will take place from Saturday 22nd to Sunday 23rd April at Edgbaston Priory Club.

The Finals weekend, which is free to spectators, sees the best club teams in England compete for the right to be the National Team Champions with the winners of the Men’s and Women’s event representing England at the European Club Championships, which this year take place in Paderborn, Germany.

The group stages began back in October 2016 when 75 teams entered the seven categories including: Men’s, Women’s, Mixed O35’s, O45’s, O55’s, Mixed Juniors Squash and Men’s Squash 57 (Racketball).

Last year’s men’s champions Roehampton are this year’s favourites, with Tom Richards, Joe Lee, Charles Sharpes, Robbie Temple and Matt Hopkins in the squad.

Colets also have a strong squad including Daryl Selby, Richie Fallows, Angus Gillams and Lance Beddoes. Edgbaston Priory Club (2015 Champions) also boast a strong team including, Joel Makin, Jamie Haycocks, Jan Van Der Herrewegen and Chris Ryder. Other Men’s Finalists include, Pontefract, Grantham, Vivo (Bristol), Carlisle and Nottingham SRC.

In the women’s event, Kenilworth and Colets are favourites to reach the 2017 final. Their squads include: Sarah-Jane Perry, Tesni Evans and Natalie Townsend for Kenilworth and Alison Waters, Coline Aumard and Alison Thomson competing for Colets. Edgbaston Priory Club, last year’s champions and the Army Ladies Team are the other semi-finalists.
