Mueller & Wall Win
German Junior Open Titles
Switzerland's
Nicolas Mueller and the host nation's Sina Wall captured the U19
trophies in the German Junior Open Squash Championships after
contrasting wins in the finals of the European Squash Federation Junior
Circuit event in Munich.
The men's final
produced a revenge win for top seed Mueller over Gregoire Marche, who
lost to the Frenchman in March's European Junior Championship final
in Norway.
But the 18-year-old
from near Zurich twice had to stem fight-backs by Marche before beating the
second seed 9-3, 1-9, 9-2, 6-9, 9-1 in the pair's fourth successive meeting
in the final of an ESF Junior event.
Sina Wall was also
seeded to win the women's event - but the 18-year-old from Munich faced
surprise opponent Olivia Blatchford, the third seed from the USA, in
the final.
Blatchford made her
breakthrough by beating Germany's Lisa Marie Sedlmeier in the
semi-finals - but she was no match for her opponent in the final as Wall
went through to win 9-4, 10-8, 9-2.
