Kent get Short Score

Dear Editor

One of the junior girls matches at last week's inter-county competition at Guildford between Surrey, Hampshire and Kent, playing PAR to 11, was over in just SEVEN MINUTES.

Here in Kent, we advised all league organisers that England Squash had recommended that we all switch to PAR to 11. However, both Kent men's leagues, the Priory League and Outer Kent League, have decided to stick to traditional scoring. So has the Kent Junior League.

The Priory Women's League has opted to switch to PAR to 15 for this season.

We used PAR to 11 during the recent Kent County Junior Closed. While most of the older players adapted to it without any problem, many of the matches in the under-11 tournament were over in ten minutes flat.

Clearly this is unacceptable and we look forward to new suggestions from England Squash to address this problem.

Best wishes,

Alan
(Kent SRA Chairman)
