Poleshchuk Claims Another Title At Enjoy Squash

After winning three times at the Enjoy Squash Club in Bielsko-Biala, Poland in 2021, Israel’s Daniel Poleshchuk has won at the same venue once more, claiming the Polskisquash Enjoy Open Challenger 3 title on Saturday evening.

The Israeli No.1 came into the tournament as the top seed, and Poleshchuk would come through the entire competition without dropping. Game, showing his dominance throughout.

He started with a comfortable win over Piotr Szostek in the opening round, before then getting the better of No.6 seed Marcin Sikorski to make it through to the semi-finals. In the last four, the Israeli downed Jakub Pytlowany, the No.8 seed, to make his way into the final once more.

In the final, he came up against Spain’s Marc Lopez, with the only two foreign players in the tournament meeting in the last match of the week. He needed just 26 minutes, winning in straight games once again, to take a fourth title at the Enjoy Squash Club in Bielsko-Biala.
Lopez Aiming For Maiden Crown

The Polskisquash Enjoy Open Challenger 3 gets underway on Friday, May 13, with 16 players aiming to take home the title from the two-days tournament at Enjoy Squash in Bielsko-Biala, Poland.

Israel’s Daniel Poleshchuk will be the top seed for the Challenger 3 level competition, with the World No.130 going back to the venue where he won three Challenger Tour titles over the course of 2021.

His nearest competitors for the crown this week will be Polish No.1 Filip Jarota and Spain’s Marc Lopez, the only other foreign player in a 16-man field which hails mainly from the host nation Poland.

Lopez has only featured once on the Challenger Tour so far in 2022, but he has played in thee events on the WSF & PSA Satellite Tour over the last month, making the final of all three events. That form gives him confidence coming into this tournament.

“I am feeling good, I have played a few tournaments this month and I’m feeling back in shape,” the Spaniard said.

“I am motivated to play this tournament and face new opponents I haven’t played yet. I feel this can be a good week, so let’s keep working and try to fight for the title.”

The 30-year-old Spaniard is yet to win a first Tour title and currently sits just outside the world’s top 200. He would love to claim that maiden crown, to help him push towards a career-high in the World Rankings.

“That would be amazing, and motivation to keep going. I am looking forward to get to my highest ranking and beat my previous high before end this season.”

The event takes place from Friday, May 13 to Saturday, May 14 at Enjoy Squash in Bielsko-Biala Poland, and you can follow the PSA Challenger Tour on Twitter and Facebook for daily updates from the event.
