  • Name: Power Worshipper

Today we have proof of the existence of God - and his name is Power. It is time for all of you English squash fans to recognize His divinity. Give up on your own false idols (Beachill, Nichol, etc.), who are as exciting to watch as drying paint, and join the cult of Power.

Lincou was on top form last night. He fought on from behind despite the advantage already under his belt of winning both his games on Monday and Tuesday. His cool and sportsmanlike attitude, even when under pressure, is refreshing. A true champion.

I felt Nick Mathews was completly justified in his anger over some of the decisions that went against him. It seems to me that only players who have played at or near this level can really appreciate what is a legitimate let call. If there is any doubt on the very close calls why not use a video replay , as Nick suggested last night but was condesendingly told ' we don't need it' by the referee. The game really needs top ex players to be refereeing matches at this lavel.

  • Name: Martin
  • Date: 11 May 2005

Comments

Sad, sad, sad - with such a referee performance I really see no chance at all that Squash will go Olimpic. Can´t really understand why nobody seems to do anything constructive against it. Would be happy to lead a team on this topic to figure out what posibilities are there to make the game more independent from bad ref calls - of which you read again and again, in every tournament...

I think that Shabana has a very very good chance of winning. If not then I would be inclined to say it will be between Beachill and Lincou. Such a good draw is a rare thing these days and it will be a delight to watch, especially the Power-Nicol game. GO NICOL!!!!!!!

The tournament takes place in the city's financial district. There are a number of hotels in the area (the best place to look being in the vicinity of Liverpool Street, EC2) though compared to more central areas, the number of shops, bars and restaurants is fairly limited. Central London (Oxford Street, Regent Street, Piccadilly etc.) is only about 20 minutes away by tube and many people prefer to stay here. Hilton, our hotel partner, offer a number of excellent hotels throughout London. Visit www.hilton.co.uk or, specifically, www.hilton.co.uk/W aldorf or www.hilton.co.uk/I slington
