The serious business
for the lucky amateur applicants at the Brit Insurance Super Series Finals
happened away from the TV camera’s when those fortunate enough to be
selected for the Celebrity-Amateur doubles tournament had their chance to
compete and meet the celebrities.
Sponsors Brit Insurance had offered places for amateur squash fans to pair
up with a celebrity partner and take part in a unique doubles competition on
the all-glass tournament court at the Broadgate Arena.
The event was to raise funds for the The Lords Taverners who have a
broad mission is to give young people, particularly those with special
needs, a sporting chance. In total, over £1,500 was raised during the

McCrae
(former women's world top 10 squash player), Matthew Syed, Luther
Blisset (former Watford FC star) and Surrey CCC cricketer Nadeem Shahid.
The event was also supported by Surrey CCC cricketers Alec Stewart and

won by amateur player Guido Le Lorrain and his partner Rebecca McCrae who
beat Chris Hobbs & Ellery Hanley
9-6,9-6.
