De Lierre Delights In
Debut PSA Title On Home Soil

Canada's Shawn De Lierre chalked up the first PSA Tour title success of his career, on home soil, when he upset his top-seeded compatriot Viktor Berg in an evenly-contested four-game final of the Quebec Open Squash Classic at Club
Atwater in Montreal.

A packed gallery cheered on the two Torontonians, Berg the 26-year-old favourite seeking his second title in his fifth PSA Tour final, and De Lierre, the 21-year-old second seed in his first appearance in a Tour climax.

Berg seemed impatient and always in a rush to end the rallies, whereas De Lierre was highly composed and attacked and retrieved well as he strode to his notable 15-12 17-15 13-15 15-13 victory over the world No49.

19-Mar:

Torontonians Viktor Berg and Shawn De Lierre will meet in an all-Canadian final of the Quebec Open Squash Classic after straightforward straight games wins in the semi-finals at the Atwater Club in Montreal, Canada.

Berg, the 26-year-old top seed, beat compatriot David Phillips, the fourth seed, 15-9 15-9 15-10 to reach his fifth PSA Tour final. The favourite had reached the last four after fighting back from 0/2 down in the quarter-finals to beat Hungarian Mark Krajcsak.

"It was the best match of the tournament to date," said the club's Head Squash & Tennis Professional Ken Flynn of the Berg/Krajcsak clash. "It was by far the most thrilling and exciting, with dynamic retrieving and great shot execution for five games. These two players were a joy to watch and very sportsmanlike for the whole match."
