O'Brien takes Auckland Title
New Zealand's Callum O'Brien has claimed his second PSA
Tour squash title on home soil in two weeks after winning the
North Island Championship at the Royal Oak Squash Club in
Auckland.
O'Brien outlasted his Remuera club-mate Kashif Shuja in today's
(Sunday) final, grinding out a 13-15 15-13 15-7 10-15 15-9 victory
in 79 minutes.
The victory marked the third PSA title of the 21-year-old's career
- and his second in a fortnight, after he also won the South
Island Championship in Christchurch last month.
In the women's non-ranking event, Sarah Cooke beat fellow
kiwi Louise Crome 9/3 9/4 9/3 in the final.

07-Aug, Round Two:
Shuja On Track In Auckland
New Zealand's Kashif Shuja remains on track for his second PSA
Tour title on home soil in two weeks, making it safely through to
the quarter-finals of the North Island Squash Championship at
Royal Oak in Auckland.
The top seed, born in Pakistan but now a New Zealand resident, won
his first two matches in straight games, accounting for England's
Daryl Selby 15-12 15-10 15-13 in the opening round, before
cruising to a 15-13 15-10 15-10 victory over fellow Kiwi Josh
Greenfield.
Second seed Callum O'Brien has also made reasonably light work of
his opening two matches, downing Namibian Ryan Thompson 15-12
15-10 17-14, followed by a 15-4 15-7 15-9 win over fellow New
Zealander Graeme Wilson.
However, the giant-killing exploits of Egypt's Amr Ramzy Swelim
have come to an end. After reaching two finals in New Zealand in
the past fortnight, the eighth seed has stumbled in just the
second round at Royal Oak, going down 15-12 15-10 15-9 to fellow
Egyptian El Iraky Omar Abd El Aziz.
