Credit Suisse Privilege confirms support
of premier women's squash event
Hong Kong Squash announced today the sponsorship of
Credit Suisse Privilege of the 19th Women's World Open Squash Championship,
the most important event in the calendar of first-class women professionals.
A supporter of women's squash in Hong Kong since 1998, Credit Suisse
Privilege's sponsorship has culminated in the staging of the most
prestigious tournament in the world of women's squash. The competition is
expected to attract the participation of all the top-ranked players in the
world, giving Hong Kong No 1 player Rebecca Chiu, who is currently ranked No
18 in the world, another chance to compete against the best on home ground.
"Much has been said about the unique glass-enclosed outdoor court that will
feature the semi-finals and finals. With Hong Kong as a backdrop, it will be
a truly spectacular setting. While we hope that our very own Rebecca Chiu
will make it that far, we are confident that those matches will live up to
the high expectations we all share." said Mr. Dallas Reid, Managing Director
of Credit Suisse Privilege.
The Credit Suisse Privilege Women's World Open is organised as part of the
Hong Kong SAR Government's Relaunch Hong Kong Campaign and is the only truly
competitive event among the various sporting spectacles included in the
campaign. In addition to showcasing their skills, participants will also be
contesting for the winner's trophy, ranking points and prize money.
The semi-finals and final of the Credit Suisse Privilege Women's World Open
will be staged on the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront outside the Cultural Centre,
against the scenic backdrop of the Central skyline. It will be the first
time the Women's World Open is held at an outdoor venue and is guaranteed to
generate a lot of excitement among players and spectators. To be held on
December 7-13, it will also be injected with a festive atmosphere as Hong
Kong will sparkle with Christmas lighting on both sides of the harbour.
"We are breaking new ground in staging the semi-finals and final at such a
spectacular venue. I am sure it will be a memorable experience for
participants, squash enthusiasts and visitors alike. Take this opportunity,
besides Credit Suisse Privilege, I would also like to thank our co-sponsors,
Cathay Pacific, Fujifilm, Prince, Perrier and Renaissance Harbour View
Hotel. We believe that the tournament will be a success with their generous
support, " said Mr David Mui, Chairman of Hong Kong Squash. |
