ATCO PSA
World Series Finals Field Set
17 December 2012
The all-star men's field for the ATCO PSA
World Series Squash Finals is complete after Englishman
Peter Barker and Egypt's Mohamed El Shorbagy
became the last two players to qualify for the elite event
being held at The Queen's Club in London from
2-6 January 2013.
Only the best eight performers from the 2012
PSA World Series events qualify to play in the Tour's
flagship event in London. This year's men's field will
feature three Englishmen - including the world's top two
players James Willstrop and Nick Matthew -
plus four Egyptians and Frenchman Gregory Gaultier.
Ramy Ashour,
the 25-year-old from Cairo who prevailed in last week's
all-Egyptian final of the Qatar PSA World Championship
in Doha, the final World Series event of the year,
heads the field after winning his fourth World Series event
of 2012.
Runner-up El Shorbagy joins Ashour and
compatriots Karim Darwish and Amr Shabana in
the Egyptian quartet at Queen's. Former world number one
Shabana, the title-holder, will be making his ninth
successive appearance in the event since 2004.
The eight men, and eight women who qualify
for the WSA World Series Finals, will compete on a special,
state-of-the-art Z-Court through the week - before an
action-packed weekend featuring the men's and women's
semi-finals and final. Sky Sports will be televising the
semi-finals and finals live.
