WORLD’S TOP EIGHT SQUASH PLAYERS TO COMPETE IN THE CITY IN LAST TOURNAMENT BEFORE COMMONWEALTHS

The City of London will provide the last chance for the world’s top squash players to gain match practice before the Commonwealth Games in Manchester, by hosting the Bank of Scotland Investment Service Super Series Squash Finals from 17-21 June.

The world’s top eight will compete for a prize fund of £50,000 in a specially constructed glass court in the heart of the City from 5pm each evening. Doors open from 4pm and Head, the official racquet supplier, will be running demonstrations and exhibition matches from 4pm on the final two days.

England’s world number one Peter Nicol, the current British Open champion, is looking to extend his record in this tournament to an unprecedented four straight victories. Standing in his way is former world number one Canadian Jonathon Power, Australia’s David Palmer – who Nicol beat in last year’s final - and defending Commonwealth doubles champion England’s Mark Chaloner.

Also in action are Thierry Lincou (France’s world number four), Australia’s Stewart Boswell (finalist in the recent PSA Masters in Qatar), Scotland’s John White (finalist in this year’s British Open) and Malaysia’s Ong Beng Hee.

Group stages take place from 17-19 June with the Semi-Finals on 20 June. The Final and third place play-off will be on 21 June.
