HILTON SUPPORTS SQUASH IN THE CITY
Leading premier hotel chain, Hilton UK & Ireland, has lent its support to
one of squash’s most prestigious events – the Bank of Scotland Investment
Service Super Series Squash Finals – in order to target the corporate
sector. The tournament will feature the world’s top 8 squash players
competing at the Broadgate Arena in the heart of the City of London for a
prize fund of US$50,000.
The Langham Hilton and the London Hilton will provide accommodation for the
players and officials, allowing them to relax and enjoy the prestigious
facilities offered by both five star properties.
The event will be broadcast across the globe to a potential audience of over
120 million homes, including Sky Sports, MNET, Fox Sports, and Star TV,
showcasing London’s capacity to host premier sporting events.
Rosemary Shill, VP of Business Development of Hilton UK & Ireland, comments:
“We are very excited to be associated with a great sporting event, the
profile of our clients is an ideal fit for an event of this prestige, and of
course with such great leisure facilities at both hotels, the players can
recuperate after the games.”
Satinda Bajwa, of Tournament Promoters WSM, adds: “To have a brand such as
Hilton associated with squash is terrific. The hotels are fantastic and both
properties provide the perfect environment to house the players.”
The tournament takes place from 17-21 June and is the last event before the
Commonwealth Games. England’s world number one and recent British Open
champion Peter Nicol will be looking to record an unprecedented fourth
straight victory in the event. Standing in his way are Australians David
Palmer, Stewart Boswell, Canada’s former world number one Jonathon Power,
and defending Commonwealth doubles champion Mark Chaloner.
