The
Professional Squash Association enters a new era today with the formal
opening of its new administration office in Leeds, the Yorkshire city in
England. This will support PSA's Headquarters at The Queen's Club in
London, the current home of the ATCO PSA World Series Finals and the
AEGON ATP Tennis Championships.
This new era
brings to a close the PSA's link with Cardiff, the capital city of Wales where
the PSA has been based since the mid 1980s.
PSA CEO
Alex Gough hosted a farewell for the Cardiff staff last week, and praised
the contribution of the team led by Tour Executive Sheila Cooksley, with
Lynne McKenna, Anna Rees, Alison Ings and Sheryl Preece.
"It is a very
sad day with us closing the doors on Cardiff after 28 years," said Gough.
"Sheila and the girls have seen the Association go through many ups and downs
over the years and they have always been there to guide the PSA through the good
times and the bad.
"It has been a
tough decision to move the office away from its beginnings but we are hopeful
that the PSA will continue to build on the incredible efforts of Sheila and her
team.
"A special,
personal thanks goes to Sheila, Alison, Anna, Lynne and also to Sheryl, who only
left 12 months earlier. They will be missed and it is up to the new team led by
Claudia Schürmann to drive the Association into a new era."
Claudia
Schürmann
also added her debt to her predecessors: "It has been a great honour to meet
Sheila, Alison, Anna, Lynne and Sheryl and to work with them. Their support,
especially in the last few months, during the transition has been fantastic and
I cannot thank them enough. They will be missed dearly!"
