Graham Stevenson’s week-long
Junior Squash Holidays were world-famous, attracting ambitious young players
from all parts of the globe.
Weekend Courses have been introduced to satisfy
the numerous adults who loved the idea of a whole week’s coaching but felt
that they could spare/justify only a couple of days.
Now it’s your turn!
The Coach:
Graham Stevenson (grahamstevenson@onetel.com)
is simply one of the most experienced coaches in the
country – an SRA Level 4 Professional Coach and Tutor, he is also the author
of the Collins Coaching Guide ‘How to Coach Squash’.
Graham has been an SRA Regional Coach and Coach to the SRA National Junior
Squads since 1980 and has been running intensive squash courses for even
longer.

Duration:
Weekend courses run from 7pm Friday to 5.30 pm Sunday, with a bit of spare
time in between. All programmes are carefully ‘paced’, so survival is not a
problem.
Venue:
Courses usually take place at the newly refurbished Storrington Squash Club,
Greyfriars Lane, Storrington, West Sussex RH20 4HE (telephone 01903 745134).
Storrington SC is a small, friendly and very pleasant club right on the edge
of the lovely South Downs.
Directions:
Storrington is to be found just off the A24, mid-way between Horsham and
Worthing. Follow the A283 into the village and turn into Church Street
opposite the post office. Continue into Greyfriars Lane and the club is on
your right.
Standard:
Each course is tailored to those who apply but is designed to be suitable
for a wide range of standards and experience, from ‘improver’ through to
club team player. If you are interested but anxious about your playing
level, call Graham for reassurance!
Age:
Players should be over 18, but there is no upper limit!
Format:
Weekend courses comprise 15 hours of coaching.
Players are arranged in groups of no more than four to a court and the
programme emphasises:
refining racket skills,
improving shot selection and
reducing error
so there is both a technical and a tactical content; there
may well be time for a little fitness work too!
All players receive a course folder of notes, and the whole approach can
best be described as ‘fun with hard work’.
Improvement is difficult to avoid!
Cost:
£195 per person.
Price include lunches and supper on the Friday but exclude accommodation.
Cheques should be made payable to ‘Graham Stevenson’ and the full fee should
accompany the application form.
