Final:
JENSON JOY IN PESHAWAR

[3] Dan Jenson (Aus) bt [4] Nick Matthew (Eng)
15/8, 9/15, 15/13, 15/7  (68m)

In a tournament that was supposed to be about the comeback of a squash legend, it was Australia's Dan Jenson, rather than home favourite Jansher Khan, who turned back the clock in Peshawar.

Having dashed Jansher's hopes of claiming his 100th PSA title in his home town by beating the squash legend in the first round, Jenson continued his own comeback, with wins over Azlan Iskander, Mansoor Zaman, and Nick Matthew in the final.

"I was No 6 before sustaining injuries which took two years to heal, but now I am trying to improve my ranking," the 27-year-old Jenson  said after his victory over Jansher, and a rise from his current 40th position looks certain.

Semi-Finals

No home finalist in Peshawar
The final of the CAS International will not feature a home player - top seeds Shahid and Mansoor Zaman were beaten in the semi-finals by England's Nick Matthew and Australia's Dan Jenson.

According to reports in Pakistan's News International, Matthew's match was marred by the misbevaviour of Shahid full story

Quarter-Finals

TOP SEEDS ASSERT CONTROL
After a series of shocks in the early rounds, it will be the top four seeds who contest the semi-finals in Peshawar.

Top seeds Shahid and Mansoor Zaman both scored 3/0 victories in all-Pakistani clashes. Shahid proved too strong for Majid Khan, who had already played six matches to get this far, while Mansoor beat another qualifier, Arshad Iqbal.

Shahid now meets England's Nick Matthew, who ended the qualifying run of Farrukh Zaman, while Mansoor meets Australian Dan Jenson, who followed up yesterday's defeat of Jansher Khan with a hard-fought 3/2 victory over Malaysia's Moh'd Azlan Iskander.

JENSON DASHES JANSHER HOPES
Tim Garner reports from Peshawar

It is half-way through the first round and all the top seeds are through, but Jansher Khan is out ...

Shahid Zaman battled his way past Davide Bianchetti in five games. Bianchetti has enjoyed a six month sabbatical from the tour and in his comeback event he was treated to a bruising encounter from the top seed. Known for his excellent shot-making and lightning speed Shahid seemed more intent on playing the player than the ball, or getting himself between player and ball. On the whole the referee saw this but it did not help the flow of the game.

His cousin Mansor Zaman beat fellow Pakistani Mohammed Ilyas in four games, the third of which was the most contentious with the players nearly coming to blows. Clearly no love lost there.

I lost in four to Nick Matthew. Both of us struggled a little with the heat but at the end of the games he won, Nick was just a little stronger onto the ball.

Jansher Khan's comeback was put firmly on 'slow' with his three nil loss to Dan Jenson. Australian Jenson is a former World top tenner himself and was probably the toughest competitor Khan could have faced in the opening round in his hometown of Peshawar. Jenson controlled many of the rallies and while Jansher still possesses some fantastic skills and put the ball away with deft drops and volleys it was his movement that really let him down and Jenson came through strongly and looks like a good bet for the tournament.

"I was No 6 before sustaining injuries which took two years to heal, but now I am trying to improve my ranking," Jenson told Pakistan's The News. "I've played many matches with Jansher and always lost. He has the same game and I saw more power in his shots today as compared to his earlier days. But I think he's not perfectly fit. Fitness is important after all. He failed to come up on my shots, but he was quite tough while playing his drops, backhands and forehands."

"It will take time to be 100 per cent fit, that is clear," said Jansher.
