make Maastricht finals ...

The women's final in the Valid Dutch Open in Maastricht will feature Dutch champion Vanessa Atkinson, and Amsterdam-based Australian Natalie Grinham.

Atkinson beat England's world number 16 Jenny Duncalf in straight games, while Grinham saw off the challenge of Malaysia's Nicol David 3/1.

Grinham's boyfriend Tommy Berden delighted home fans with another spectacular upset victory as he overcame Egypt's Mohammed Abbas, the fifth seed, in five games.

Berden faces world junior champion James Willstrop in the final, after Willstrop ended the qualifying run of Laurens Anjema to dash hopes of an all-Dutch final.

Fri 14th Nov, Quarter-Finals:
Dutch Delight in Maastricht
 Dutch fans were delighted to see national number one Tommy Berden follow up his first round win over second seed Alex Gough with a straightforward win over Italian Davide Bianchetti to reach the semi-finals, and ecstatic with Laurens Anjema's spectacular recovery from 2-0 down against top seed Simon Parke.

Anjema now faces world junior champion James Willstrop in the semi-finals, while Berden meets Egypt's Mohammed Abbas, the highest seed remaining in the competition.

In the women's event Dutch champion Vanessa Atkinson easily defeated world junior champion Omneya Abdel Kawy to set up a semi-final with England's fast-improving Jenny Duncalf, and Amsterdam-based Natalie Grinham eased into the semi-finals where she meets Nicol David who produced a stunning upset win over second seed and event favourite Cassie Jackman.

Seven time Dutch Champion Vanessa Atkinson will be aiming for a  double when she defends her title in the Valid Dutch Open in Maastricht. Atkinson is seeded to meet US Open Champion Cassie Jackman in the final.

In the men's event Dutch number one Tommy Berden faces a tough task, meeting second seed Alex Gough in the first round. England's Simon Parke is top seed in a bizarre draw which places all four qualifiers in the top half.
