22-Aug-04:
HEAD step in as
Title Sponsor
The BSPA is delighted to
announce a new title sponsor
for its British circuit of
professional squash events.
Head UK have taken over as tour sponsor in a move that strengthens
their support of British squash following on their involvement in the
British Open and the Head UK Champion of Champions junior event. The
circuit will know be known as the Head UK Grand Prix and will boast
8 destinations around the nation, culminating in the Head UK Grand Prix
Finals at the end of the season.
“Head UK is very pleased to be increasing its support of squash here in
the UK with title sponsorship of the BSPA Grand Prix. Events like this
need help from everyone to sustain them and hopefully to increase squash
interest throughout the country. Head UK are looking forward to a
successful year with the BSPA” commented Andy Catchpole, Head UK’s
Racquet Sports Promotions Manager.
BSPA tour director Tim Garner explained “the circuit has formed the
backbone of competitive tournament squash in recent years. It gives the
young professional players the opportunity to cut their teeth against
established pros, whilst the latter are given the chance to earn a living
without incurring the high costs of travelling abroad.”
He went on to re-iterate the importance of such commercial tie-ups “It is
crucial to keep some form of continuity in the circuit and this type of
sponsorship enables to make sure British players have professional squash
tournaments to play on a regular basis.”
With a busy period on the international circuit over the next few months
the Head UK Grand Prix will begin in Boston, Lincs, in early December
before travelling around the country in the early part of 2005. |
