Player Quotes
Rowan Elkalaawy
who had a tough draw against Alison Walters and lost 3-0 in the
Quarter finals: It was a really good experience to play against
someone in the top 10. To be able to learn from someone who shows
such control on court was a whole new experience for me.
Alison Walters who seemed to progress through to the
semi-finals with relative ease: Its really nice to get back into
competitive game play following the last tournament in New York
where I reached the final. I’m hoping to build on that here and Im
enjoying incorporating aspects of my game that I worked on over
summer in to my competitive play so that I’m ready for the world
teams in a few months.
Elise Lazarus who won 3-0 against Elspeth Young: I struggled
this morning to hit my stride in the quarter finals but as soon as I
found my feet I was happy with my performance. I’m so excited for
the semis, to play against someone like Alison and can’t wait to
enjoy the experience.
Steph Walton: Steph lost to Millie in the quarter finals 3-0:
I’ve really enjoyed the tournament, I’ve had two really good games
and as far as loosing goes it was pretty fun! Its been really nice
to play here and to watch such good matches as well.
Rachel Chadwick who beat Kace Bartley (3-1): Kace played
really well, she’s very talented at the front so I had to really
concentrate on keeping it away from her there. I’m happy I won and
glad I managed to keep focused in the fourth game where it was very
close. I’m looking forward to playing Millie again, and just need to
focus on playing my best squash.
Rory Stewart who lost to Jaymie Haycock (3-1): The tournament
has been well organised with great facilities. I always enjoy coming
to this tournament. I was delighted with my performance with one of
the best win’s in my career against Joe Green in the last round. I
feel I’m playing my best with a good summer pre-season behind me
with new coaches who have helped to improve my game and being able
to train with my hero every day- Alan Clyne. I’m already looking
forward to next years tournament.
Joel Makin won 3-0 against Chris: I was happy with my
performance and to win in 3 games. With 2 matches a day I find it
important not to spend too much time on court early so as to
conserve my energy for the later matches. I felt Chris played well
and positively in the quarter final match. Looking ahead to my
semi-final later, I have never played Tom although I’ve obviously
seen him around a lot. I’m looking forward even though it should be
a tough one.
Ben Coleman won 3-1 against James Peach: I thought my quarter
final was a good match and we put on a good performance, I don't
feel like i gave my best game but after a few games I seemed to
relax into it and start to understand James’ style of play. I’m
looking forward to playing Jamie in the semi-final as I haven't
played him in a long time, it should be close and hopefully I’ll
come out on top.
